Re: Primitive roots

כפל appears in post-biblical Hebrew as the useful and common קפל, 'fold'. Compare the English multiply = multi-ply as in the multiplication table.

Re: Primitive roots

You need to explain, possibly first to yourself, what you mean by "נ is a prefix". What is this "prefix" and why is it placed there?

Re: Phoenician Dye

Speaking and singing is often likened in Hebrew to growth, and hence זִמְרָה ZIMRAH, 'singing', and זְמוֹרָה ZMORAH, 'branch', both of the root זמר ZMR. I think that the fraction TA of TAMAR is not radical, to wit: תמר ‫=‬ אתה‫-‬מר TAMAR = ATAH-MAR, where MAR is 'noble'. Isaac Fried, Boston University

Re: Phoenician Dye

Song 5:10 דּוֹדִי צַח וְאָדוֹם, דָּגוּל מֵרְבָבָה is translated as, NIV: "My beloved is radiant and ruddy, outstanding among ten thousand." Namely, towering over them as a banner over a host. Note also how דגל DGL is related to שגל $GL, 'to mount, to be over.' Isaac Fried, Boston University

Re: Phoenician Dye

Appears to me that דקל DEKEL, 'palm tree'. is a variant of דגל DEGEL,' flag, banner'.

Re: יוֹם תְּרוּעָה YOM TRUAH, Nu. 29:1

It is interesting, (because of limit knowledge I can not personally verify it) that the Septuagint reads תרועה as κραυγῆς, namely 'a hoot, a croak', not as a name of any blowing instrument. KJV translates Zephaniah 1:16 as "A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against t...

Re: יוֹם תְּרוּעָה YOM TRUAH, Nu. 29:1

Notice this:
‪‬רוּעַ RUA, 'scream, blast, exclaim, vocally tremulate, ululate'
רוֹעַ ROA, 'evil'
רֵעַ REA, 'friend'
all from the single root ר R.
