Re: Free Reader Resources

Are there others publications for free like these? These two (Ruth and Jonah) are the only examples like this that I have been able to find. You could contact Charles, the author of these readers, and ask if he has run across similar readers. You'll find his contact information in the link below: h...

Re: Deut 29:18 (19) watered with the dry

Rather than translate the particle et as "with", could it be considered as the pointer to the direct object... The translators of the LXX also saw the אֶת־ as a direct object marker and translated one of the nouns into the nominative case (making it the subject of the verb) and one with t...

Re: chireq pronunciation

The hireq can be pronounced either as a short "i" as in "lid" or a long "i" as in "machine." Closed, unaccented syllables would generally have a short hireq. Open syllables would generally have the long hireq. Then there are the occasions when the hireq appear...

Re: chireq pronunciation

Do you have any resources that might give us a history of the implementation/pronunciation of the vowels? Try this link in a modern browser -- Chrome is probably best. Use the navigation at the top of the page to go to Genesis Chapter 1. Listen to the pronunciation of a native Hebrew reader (not ca...

Re: Which Bible to buy?

If they're all the same text, then I'd go for the cheapest, but it's not clear to me why the huge differences in prices, given that they're all new. They are the same text -- but they are not the same size. If you read the section called "Product Details," you'll find that they differ sig...

Re: Hebrew Audio Text Map -- Verse by Verse

Thanks for the visit, Steve. It's a work in progress and I had to pull the Psalms' timing maps on Saturday which left only Ps 1:1. Originally, I had some of the most familiar Psalms (1, 8, 22, 23, 91, etc). But due to the fact that the User Interface for the passage selection will have to be revampe...

Re: Hebrew to English

Afternoon, Does anyone know if someone has put in the work to find out the word count of Hebrew to English words in the book of Genesis? The Masoretic Text in my database has 20,704 words in Genesis. The Holman Study Bible has 34,022 words in Genesis. The RSV has 36,520. The NIV 35,219. In my opini...

Hebrew Audio Text Map -- Verse by Verse

My work on the Hebrew Audio Text Map had been stalled with personal endeavors through most of the summer. I have returned to the project and am now bringing additional chapters online almost daily. http://markcain.com/hebrew.html Currently I have the first 11 chapters of Genesis and a smattering of ...

Re: Does pointed Hebrew display on smart phones?

Does pointed Hebrew script display on major brand-name smart phones? Are there particular requirements for it working well? Here's the answer you don't want: It depends on the source of the text and how the code is written. If you are wondering about a particular Hebrew Bible app like Olivetree, yo...

Re: Unicode/XML Westminster Leningrad Codex - Chrome browser

I forced an update on Chrome and the site is now working for me as well:

XP service pack 3
Chrome Version 34.0.1847.131 m (the old version of Chrome was Version 34.0.1847.116m)

Chrome has a huge market share for the users who visit my site. 66%+ of my users have some flavor of Chrome.
