Re: Prov 30:3

As you pointed to the LXX/OG in post #1, here's the Greek (LXX/OG has a different structure, and text, to the Masoretic Hebrew of Proverbs, and so transposes Prov 30:3 to Prov 24:26): God has taught me wisdom, and I know the knowledge of the Holy One Thanks Ste. What did you mean by "transpose...

Re: Prov 30:3

Thanks Kirk, Mark, Karl and Jonathan, Mark, is there an English translation of the Graecus Venetus? I did a search of all occurrences of "nor" in KJV in the Tanach. There were 499 verses, so I just looked at the poetic books: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, Lamentations...

Re: In Isaiah 9:6 "no end of the increase"?

William, I agree with John. Also, the word ‎ מַרְבֵּ֙ה does not really mean growth (or increase), but abundance or multitude (Isa 33:23; Eze 23:32). And there is no verb there to say "will be". The abundance of the Messiah's government and peace are without end. The final mem in the interi...

Psalm 34:4 את י "With me" (cf. עמ י ) Thanks very much, Lee. This is exactly the kind of example I was looking for. ‎ WTT Psalm 34:4 גַּדְּל֣וּ לַיהוָ֣ה אִתִּ֑י וּנְרוֹמְמָ֖ה שְׁמ֣וֹ יַחְדָּֽו׃ DBY Psalm 34:3 Magnify Jehovah with me , and let us exalt his name together The verb here, piel...

Re: Gen 6:19 et = "with" or direct obj ptr

Thanks Lee.

With an intransitive verb as in Gen 5:22 & Exo 1:1, or with no verb, et means "with".
Does it ever mean "with" when connected to a transitive verb?

Re: Isa 9:3(4) DSS

thanks very much, Karl If when analyzing a verse a certain theory doesn’t make sense, then try again with a different theory. In this case, the theory is that the word in question is a verb. Is that accurate? I would think the 2 et's at the beginning of the verse demand a verb for them to be the dir...

Re: 1 Kings 19, 12

I have been studying Psalm 65, and this discussion about 1Ki 19:12 came to mind. ‎Psalm 65:2(1) לְךָ֤ דֻֽמִיָּ֬ה תְהִלָּ֓ה אֱלֹ֨הִ֥ים בְּצִיּ֑וֹן וּ֜לְךָ֗ יְשֻׁלַּם־נֶֽדֶר׃ To You silence, praise belong, O God in Zion, and to You shall men pay a vow. Re: Is this analysis of Isaiah 9:6 a legitimate one?

In addition to what Dewayne shared, here is one place with 2 names, that uses "name" singular: Gen 31:48b ‎ עַל־כֵּ֥ן קָרָֽא־שְׁמ֖וֹ גַּלְעֵֽד 49 וְהַמִּצְפָּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָמַ֔ר יִ֥צֶף יְהוָ֖ה בֵּינִ֣י וּבֵינֶ֑ךָ כִּ֥י נִסָּתֵ֖ר אִ֥ישׁ מֵרֵעֵֽהוּ׃ Gen 31:48b Therefore was the name of it call...
