Re: Ps 139:3

Thanks Ste. I was thinking similarly for סכן . You make all my ways work for Your purpose as in Romans 8:27-30. For זרה , I didn't like the "search out" translation because I was understanding it as in Numbers 10:33, to search out my path before me, which would be a wrong meaning here. To ...

Re: Jackal or dragon?

Hi Kenneth, It looks to me like they are 2 different words where תנים or ‎ תַנּ֥וֹת means jackals, and תנין means a large reptile. Isa 13:22 & Micah 1:8 תנים could not be reptiles because they cry to one another and wail. Also Jerem 14:6 תנים does not sound like it could be a reptile. A problem ...

Re: Genesis 18:3 "from upon"

על has the meaning of being a burden on.
In Gen 18:3, Abraham tells the Lord that Abraham wants to give him hospitality, which is a burden Abraham wants to bear.

In Exo 18:13 The people stood as a burden upon Moses from morning until evening.

Re: "If" and "If not"

Karl,
Aren't Gen 18:3 & 23:8 "if A then B" cases without the waw conjunction?

Re: Genesis 1.1

Thanks Karl! I didn't know that.
You are right, that makes the plural of elohim not significant as far as God being triune.

Re: Adam and Eve

Existence, Welcome to the forum. A rule of the forum is that you sign your posts with your first and last name. The easiest way to do that is to put it into your signature so it is done once for all. ha-adm means "the man". adm or Adam would be a transliteration of the name Adam as in Gen ...
