Re: translation of Daniel 9:26

Karl, "Two weeks" is a number of days, kind of. Also, if a quote says "two years days", then I think you are saying that it means "two years", but not starting on the first day of the year, or am I misunderstanding? Is there a difference between a quote that says "...

Re: translation of Daniel 9:26

Karl, Leviticus 12:5 as "70 days" without the word "days" is an unusual translation instead of "two weeks." Here are quotes with "two years days" Genesis 8:22, 41:1, 2 Samuel 13:23, 2 Samuel 14:28, Jeremiah 28:3 and 11, "a month of days" Genesis 29:1...

Re: translation of Daniel 9:26

Karl, Daniel 4 I think is about seven periods of time that are not specified, so that can be a long time. The word "week" in Hebrew for seven days is in Leviticus 12:5, Exodus 34:22, Deuteronomy 16:9, and "feast of weeks of days" is in Ezekiel 45:21. I got the quote numbers from ...

Re: translation of Daniel 9:26

Karl, If you read it as "seventy three days", wouldn't it have sounded funny. Wouldn't it have been '"seventy and three days" or something like that. Anyway, it is interesting that Daniel 10:2-3 might say "three sevens (weeks) of days", but it might not say "of day...

Re: The history of the four conjugations

Rolf, You said that some other ancient languages have two conjugations also. I would just like to clarify something. Do you mean in your opinion only or is that the opinion of mainstream scholars too? I am not saying you are a fringe scholar, I am just asking if your opinion is common among scholars...

Re: translation of Daniel 9:26

Karl, What about Daniel 10:3 and 13 which mention "three weeks (sevens) days". I was thinking that the word "days" could mean "daytimes" or maybe "a year" because the word "days" is sometimes used to mean "annually." I don't have quotes wit...

Re: The fallacy of "prophetic perfect"

Rolf, I don't fully understand the grammar of this discussion, but I think that you are analyzing future prophecies given in a poetic form as if they were prose. Since the prophecies include poetry, they are not really that literal and you are analyzing the verbs as if they were supposed to strictly...

Re: translation of Daniel 9:26

Steve and Karl, To be honest, I don't understand your explanations. I am sure they make sense, but I am just not getting it. Personally, I think the prophecy is about 70 real weeks in the future and not weeks of years. I think that the prophecy is vague and people are guessing about what each part o...

Re: translation of Daniel 9:26

Rolf, I have heard people say something that there is a indefinite period of time that is not mentioned in the prophecy after the 69 weeks or in the middle of the 70th week. I don't know if it is based on a religious belief or the Hebrew of Daniel 9. Some of them say that is based on the Hebrew, but...
