Re: entering biblical Hebrew on the Mac

PDF and Hebrew does not work well with screen readers, so I don't use it. My Hebrew text is displayed directly on web pages, and students are allow to submit via text input or RTF/Word docs. I have since found out that my Mac students are using Pages and Melel--I don't specify a preference, as what ...

Re: entering biblical Hebrew on the Mac

Thanks, all, for the intriguing discussion. In short, I do require them to type all assignments. For one thing, I must be able to grade and due to my own disability I cannot read handwritten material. So all work must be produced in Unicode. I have taught students who are handwriting before, but hav...

entering biblical Hebrew on the Mac

I would like opinions about the options available for entering BH on Mac OS 10.8. I have two students using Macs, both using the same version. They are slogging through at this point; but we have just begun a 12-week intensive course, and if we can settle on this question it would help in the long t...

Re: Hebrew Audio Text Map -- Verse by Verse

I am highly impressed with this resource! I gave you a link from my accessible online resources page: http://www.night-light.org/index/semina ... es-online/ and will also be recommending this to my Hebrew students. Please keep up the good work!

Re: Teaching the Biblical Hebrew Verb

Some observations: I agree that many students do not understand the grammatical terms "transitive, intransitive," etc. That doesn't always mean they are bad at using grammar. Some have particular weaknesses, but pointing out, "you used an intransitive" doesn't help because they d...

Re: introduction

Thanks, Kirk. I am surprised, as there was some quite good discussion about it on the old forum. Perhaps it has all gone to the blogs, SBL forum, etc. Would it be worth adding a forum specific to teaching? It seems to me that pedagogy might get lost in the general forum depending on how active the g...

introduction

Hello. I was once upon a time active on the email forum and have finally found my way here. I am a new faculty member at Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana, teaching Hebrew online. Our hope is to create an environment suitable for learners with and without disabilities to learn together, as He...
