Whilst never a replacement at all for Karl's suggestion, I can heartedly recommend the following flashcard programme, Anki, mentioned in this thread . In the short run, to get your feet wet in reading Hebrew, learn the verbs in the Qatal third person singular form—that’s how the verbs are listed in dictionaries.
