I'm wondering if/how we can know that YHWH is not in the construct?

Also are there many cases where we have two nouns and we don't translate them with "of" in between?

Re: YHWH Elohim - translation as YHWH the powerful? or YHWH the power?

@talmud yes I know that i'm not asking about that. @kwrandolph You say that YHWH is not in the construct. How do we know that YHWH is not in the construct? How does a proper noun / name, change, when in the construct? I guess you might agree the second noun wouldn't change? I can't see how you know/...

YHWH Elohim - translation as YHWH the powerful? or YHWH the power?

Hi I understand that Elohim has some variety to its meaning.. Can YHWH Elohim he translated as YHWH of the powers? YHWH of the powerful? YHWH the powerful YHWH of the spiritual beings? YHWH the spiritual being? So, I think there's a few questions there.. Q) Whether the first noun YHWH is construct, ...

Re: is yashku really a hiphil imperfect? I see no yud or hirik!

Yes the Pathak in the prefix is the tell. It's a weak verb (Final hey) that's why there's no hirik. The causative is not only common, it fits the context. Notice Jacob removes the stone and Waters the docks himself. Ah, thanks yes you're right, re context and grammar. I see all examples of a hiphil...

Re: chapter divisions of WLC and BHS

Thanks Kirk, I thought so re WLC's chapter divisions. A theory with the BHS is perhaps the 1525 Bomberg was so widespread that the chapter divisions it used were seen as the chapter divisions of the hebrew bible.. over the years, in synagogues they also had those divisions inherited from the choice ...

Re: chapter divisions of WLC and BHS

@Jemoh i'm very familiar with that link but it does not either of my questions. For example that link states that the BHS got its chapter divisions from the 1525 bomberg, and it states the 1525 bomberg's source for those divisions. But that doesn't address my question of why the BHS chose to use the...

chapter divisions of WLC and BHS

Hi

Any idea why the BHS chose the chapter divisions of the 1525 Bomberg bible, with Joel having 4 chapters and Malachi having 3 chapters?

And did the WLC choose those chapter divisions because the BHS has those chapter divisions?

Thanks
