Is BBH wrong in describing yashav as strong in the paal perfect?

Is BBH wrong in describing yashav as strong in the paal perfect? In Basics of Biblical Hebrew p142, chapter 13 Paal Perfect strong verbs He lists yashav as being strong. I know that yashav in the paal perfect follows the same pattern as strong verbs but is he correct or incorrect to describe yashav ...

Re: Imperfect and Participle for Present Tense

In Biblical Hebrew, the Imperfect aspect is used when the action has not been completed, despite the tense. But the participle has been used to present tense, though not restricted to that. Can someone please help me understand when the imperfect tense and participle would be used to represent pres...

Can you give examples of this how you think the conjugations work for mood?

Re: Biblical Hebrew Immersion

It's good for hebrew reading but what's missing is there's no effort to understand what you're saying. If I sit in a biblical hebrew class i'm way ahead on reading but on understanding words, we are all at the same level, knowing the vocabulary that the book uses. By the way I often heard people say...

Re: Identifying stative verbs - maybe a difference between Basics of biblical hebrew/BBH and Groves Wheeler

interesting, jonathan.. if we take a root like mem waw taw the verb "die" I guess mem waw taw and yud chaf lamed, are always stative 'cos in english one could always replace "he died" with he is/was/became dead. likewise with able.. So stative verbs seem to be a type of passive a...

Just been and downloaded Anki - looks like a great tool that needs more publicity!

@S_Walch

You say it needs more publicity, but have you even used the program?

It looks like a generic program and I don't see any list of hebrew words anywhere in it.

Re: Identifying stative verbs - maybe a difference between Basics of biblical hebrew/BBH and Groves Wheeler

I have come to the tentative conclusion that the imperfective was expressed by use of the Piel and Pual binyanim. However, most of the forms of the Piel and Pual are identical to the Qal, except participles. I noticed that the participles of Piel and Pual refer to situations where the actions are c...

Re: Identifying stative verbs - maybe a difference between Basics of biblical hebrew/BBH and Groves Wheeler

Any thoughts on why those three aren't listed as adjectives in groves wheeler's morphological index? Do you think groves wheeler isn't considering them as stative verbs? And if so, then are there different-differing ideas about how stative verbs are identified? perhaps stative verbs(at least in the...
