Isaiah 65:25 eat like one?

Post by Kenneth Greifer »

Isaiah 65:25

JPS 1917
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, And the lion shall eat straw like the ox; And dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, Saith the LORD.

Do you think it says they will "eat like one" meaning "together" or "in the same way"?

The verb רעה seems to have the connotation of "grazing" more than "eating". I would take that to be "the manner" or "in the same way". So כאחד has the meaning "together". So I would translate as

"a wolf and a lamb shall graze together (as one)"
