Unicode/XML Leningrad Codex: Proposed changes for next release (19 Oct 2024)
Posted: Sun Apr 28, 2024 7:06 am
The current, proposed text changes for UXLC 2.2 (19 Oct 2024) are up at:
<https://tanach.us/Changes/2024.10.19%20 ... hanges.xml>.
The majority (87) of these changes improve the fidelity of the UXLC to the actual LC qere/ketiv forms. Two sets of qere/ketivs are considered: qere/ketivs discussed in Aron Dotan's BHL Forward "Qere and Ketiv" (48) and qere/ketivs noted with 'a' bracket notes in WLC 4.20 (39). A detailed guide is available at:
<https://tanach.us/Changes/2024.10.19%20 ... forms.html>.
This effort was motivated by Ben Denckla's post "creating a pointed qere isn't always easy" (28 Feb 2024), <viewtopic.php?f=12&t=22778, to this list.
I was astonished by the 18 qere/ketiv forms added and 13 forms removed in the BHL, these BHL
additions and deletions are rejected for the UXLC. They are not present in other highly respected texts such as the JPS Tanach 1999. A new transcription note, 'q', for the UXLC is introduced. Comments on these changes would be appreciated.
Other suggested changes in the text will be gladly considered.
