Marathon, Semitic name?

Now that we have had yesterday the annual Boston Marathon, I recall what I have suggested before, namely, that Marathon is possibly the Hebrew מר-אתוֹן, מר-אדוֹן being worshiped there. Compare Athena, which I suspect is our אתנה or אדנה, corresponding to the Hebrew דן (or אדן) and דינה (or אדינה.)
Recall also the Norse god Odin (of which the day name Wednesday), which is possibly the Eastern אדוֹן.
The Persian name מרדכי is possibly מר-עד-חי, the eternal master.
