ירק YARAQ, Nu. 12:14

We read there
KJV: "If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed?"
The root YRQ is a bona fide member of the root family:
typified by זרק ZARAQ, 'throw, cast, hurl, lob'.
ROQ, 'saliva, spittle' (see Isaiah 50:6) is certainly but a variant of רוֹךְ ROK, 'softness, tenderness, delicateness', (see Deut. 28:56), as are רוּחַ RUAX, 'wind', רֵיחַ REYAX, 'odor, smell' (see Gen. 8:21), and רֵיק REYQ, 'empty' (see Jer. 51:34).
YARAQ in the sense of greenery (namely that which is growing) is actually a זרק ZARAQ, throwing forth its shoots to sprout and spring out of the earth.
