Weingreen Grammar, Composition 31.7

Post by Jason Hare »

How about another translation exercise? Here we go!

(7) The prophet said to the king in the hearing of all Israel: ‘If thou shalt not hearken to the words of this law and thou shalt go after they heart and after thine eyes, behold the Lord will surely tear the kingdom from thee, as I have torn thy garment from (upon) thee.’

My submission:
Hidden Text

Notice that וְתֵלֵךְ is not vav-consecutive! :)

I inserted לֵאמֹר to function as the quotation marks, like ὅτι in Greek.

Hi Jason,

I think it would be nicer to use תתור instead of תלך.
Also, it is strange, but בגדך should not have Dagesh in the D.
And just a typo of missing Dagesh in the T of קרעתי.
