Happy Holidays ‖ שָׁנָה אֶזְרָחִית טוֹבָה
Here’s hoping that you all had a great Christmas (if you celebrate) and that the next (civil) year brings with it hope and success.
שָׁנָה אֶזְרָחִית טוֹבָה וּמְלֵאַת תִּקְוָה וְהַצְלָחָה לְכָל־חַבְרֵי B-Hebrew!

Re: Happy Holidays ‖ שָׁנָה אֶזְרָחִית טוֹבָה
Ludwig Koehler et al., The Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicon of the Old Testament (Leiden: E.J. Brill, 1994–2000), 28.
אֶזְרָח: II זרח, BL 487o; MHb.; Pun. מזרח and מרזח (DISO 146-167) clan: cs. אֶזְרַח: someone born in the land, Sept. αὐτόχθων, later synonymous with → גֵּר (Bertholet 160f, 167; Grelot VT 6:177f); א׳ הָאָרֶץ Ex 12:19, 48 Nu 9:14 (three classes, Albright Religion 23497a, but לָכֶם is supreme); > הָא׳ the native, full citizen Ex 12:49 Lv 16:29 17:15 18:26 19:34 23:42 24:16, 22 Nu 15:13, 29f Jos 8:33 Ezk 47:22; DJD 1 28a:1, 6; —Ps 37:35 rd. אֶרֶז (Sept.). †
This word, meaning “citizen” or “native,” is turned into an adjective in later Hebrew to mean “civil” as opposed to traditional or religious. The שָׁנָה אֶזְרָחִית is mentioned specifically because the unqualified שָׁנָה טוֹבָה is used as a greeting/blessing for Rosh HaShanah (רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה), the traditional Jewish New Year in September or October (the first of the month of Tishrei).Jason Hare

Jason,
When I was little in the early 1970's, there was an Israeli song called "Machar" and I remember a little part of it: "sing for tomorrow, it is another day, full of joy and sorrow..."
Do you know that song? Only the word "machar" was in Hebrew and the rest was in English.

Yeah, I just created some lounges today. Figured that we need a place just to talk without it having to be formal discussion. To encourage us to get to know one another and to just enjoy each other’s company.

I’m not familiar with it. If you had a few more words in Hebrew, maybe I could find it. I searched for עוד יום מלא שמחה and didn’t find anything similar.Kenneth Greifer wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 4:22 pm Jason,
