This verse sets the Exodus story in Egypt with the familiar words, Pharaoh and Ramses, a study word by word of the verse suggests a
different location, more local too the Levant.

Three locations
- ערי מסכנות : πόλεις ὀχυρὰς
- פתם : Πιθωμ ,
- רעמסס : Ραμεσση

In 1 Kings 9:19 or 2 Chronicles 8:6, Solomon builds three places.
1. cities of store - ערי המסכנות : πόλεις τὰς ὀχυράς
2. cities for his chariots - ערי הרכ : πόλεις τῶν ἁρμάτων
3. cities for his horsemen - ערי הפרשים : πόλεις τῶν ἱππέων

פתם : ἵπποισιν or בית און * Ων/Ἡλίου πόλις : בעל בכא , βάκχον
רעמסס : ἅρμασι, רעמה , Ρεγμα , ἁρμός, τροχός, רכב

ὀχυρὰς translates מסכנות , ὀχυρὰς is צֹר.
* צֹר מצרים מבצרים צור מצור מצרות מצורה מצרת

Numbers 13:28 - והערים בצרות : πόλεις ὀχυραὶ
Ezekiel 36:35 - בצורות ישבו : ὀχυραὶ ἐκάθισα
Joshua 14:12 - וערים בצרות : πόλεις ὀχυραὶ
2 Kings 10:2 - עיר מבצר : πόλεις ὀχυραὶ

Daniel 11:24 (multiple readings)
He shall devise plans against Egypt/Stronghold/Tyre

Micah 7:12
אשור וערי מצור ולמני מצור ועד־נהר
Ἀσσυρίων καὶ αἱ πόλεις σου αἱ ὀχυραὶ εἰς διαμερισμὸν ἀπὸ Τύρου ἕως τοῦ ποταμοῦ Συρίας

מ צור : ἀπὸ Τύρου "From Tyre"
- ἐχυρός - Strong, Secure
- χωρίον - place, spot, district

מצרים - Two Tyres
Mainland Tyre & Island Tyre

Joshua 19:35 - ערי מבצר ה צדים צר
πόλεις τειχήρεις τῶν Τυρίων Τύρος

Ezekiel 27:3 - צור/Tyre / רכל/ἐμπορίῳ "Merchant"

ἐμπορίῳ - "trading-station, mart, factory"
- ἔμφορος "Productive, profitable'
- ἔφορος "overseer'
- פרעה , ἐφορῇ. φορῇ

מסכנות mickĕnah "Storehouse"
- ἐπισυνάγω "collect and bring to a place"
- ἐπισυμφέρω bring together, gather, collect
- φέρω פרעה , ἐφορῇ. φορῇ

כנס (kanac) "to gather people"
- συνάγω
- כנס גוי "Synagogue" "gathering of people, Market-place"

כנען - Merchant, כנס/כנע/קנה
- ὠνέομαι "buy, purchase"
- ὤνια "to be bough, for sale, produce"
- γονεύς "begetter"
- ילו 'Lender/Levy'
- משה. נשה 'Usurer'
- δανειστὴς , δανείζω , δανιεῖ , δανείσω , διόνυσος

Exodus 23:11 - But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest (שמט)
Deuteronomy 15:1 - At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release (שמטה)
15:2 - משה (Moses) " loan released in the 7th year"

1 Kings 9:11-2
king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.
Hiram came out from Tyre( מצר) to see the cities which Solomon had given him and they pleased him not

1 Kings 9:15 - this is the reason of the levy (מס) which king Solomon raised

And all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion

1 Kings 9:21
Solomon levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day.

Exodus 1:11 - To afflict them with their burdens (סבל)

1 Kings 11:28
And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious
he made him ruler over all the charge(סבל) of the house of Joseph

Jeroboam - ירבעם , ירבעל , פרעה בעל
- בעל, בשת, Φιλο, πόσις, πότις, פוט , חדש

Exodus 1:8
Now there arose up a new king(מלך־חדש) over Egypt, which knew not Joseph
- Joseph : , διο σέβος , εὐσεβής, שבע, שוע , δαφνη, στέφανος , צפנת פענח , δαφνη φοινός, φαγόν, παγεύς , Βάκχος , Παιάν, δαφνηφάγος

I have gathered allot of information but no clear conclusion , but the African-Egypt can be ruled out Exodus 1:11 along with the Arabian Peninsula and localised to the Levant.
