רֶחֶם 'womb, bowels', is related to רוֹך, 'softness', as is רחמים, 'compassion', and רוּחַ, 'wind, spirit'. What ῥῆγμα 'cleft, chasm', has to do with it is not clear to me.

We don't pronounce the G in LIGHT and this similar too how Hebrew Language handles Greek words containing G.
such a γλῶσσα written לשן. The second σ in γλῶσσαν is the ן in לשן.

γλωσσ > γλωσν > λσν > לשן

Daniel 3:5 - לשניא ~ γλῶσσαι

English, indeed, tends to soften g into y as in gard - yard, regal - royal, but this has nothing to do with Hebrew. The letter ן N of לשוֹן is, moreover, possibly not radical.

Regal & Royal are cognates of מלך.

Sardinia was a Phoenician colony and this place was called Σανδάλιον ( Sandalion )
because of the N/M & R/L switch.

Sandalion
Sardanion

Ou_r_an ( οὐραν) = s_m_im (שמים) 'Sky'
He-l-ios (ἠέλιος) = s_m_s (שמש) 'Sun'
R_h_n (ῥήν) = R_h_l (רחל) 'Ewe'

רעליה - Ezr 2:2
רעמיה - Neh 7:7

לשכה - Neh 13:5
נשכה - Neh 13:7
