Deut. 21:15

Post by Isaac Fried »

We read there
KJV: " If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated"
Here, שְׂנוּאָה = שנ-הוּא-היא and שְּׂנִיאָה = שנ-היא-היא, are with the internal personal pronoun היא-הוּא that is indifferent of gender.
Also הָאֲהוּבָה היא-אה-הוּא-ב-היא is with all personal pronouns referring to the woman bearing the property אהב, love.

The equivalent alternatives היא-הוּא is used now to produce needed words of a slightly mutated meaning, for instance, שָבוּר = שב-הוא-ר, 'broken', שָבִיר = שה-היא-ר, 'breakable'.

Here is another example
AMUD, 'column'.
AMOD, 'stand!'.
AMIDAH, 'standing'.
AMID, 'durable, resilient'.
AMIDUT, 'resistance'.

To this we add
MAAMAD, 'position'.
MUAMAD, 'candidate'.
MAAMADUT, 'candidacy'.
MAAMADOT, 'casts'.
