DROR Lev. 25:10

Post by Isaac Fried »

We read there
NIV: "Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each of you is to return to your family property and to your own clan."
Here, דְּרוֹר = דר-הוּא-ר, 'freedom', is from the root דרר, itself of the root family

and also further related to
all typified by the inclusion of the uniliteral root ר R of separation.
Thus, דְּרוֹר is as צרוֹר, 'a collection of items such as loose coins or detached pebbles free, having the דְּרוֹר, being בני חורין, to move around against each other' (See: Gen. 42:35, 1Sam. 25:29, Prov. 26:27.)
