Well, that's interesting. When I installed and then changed the code to use SBL BibLit, the misplaced hiriq under the yod returned! Changing back to SBL Hebrew placed the hiriq correctly.

Could you please check on your system to see? I am leaving the code pointing to SBL BibLit, and I need to have verification.

Otherwise, I'm going to try to make a bug report to the typographer...

Later: I confirm the problem on both the Windows 7 Pro and Linux (Ubuntu) OSes, using BibLit.

Yes, I noticed on the Windows 7 system that the hirik had raised with SBL BibLit. Is it still set with BibLit so that I can check on my Windows 8.1 system?

Edit: I checked it on Windows 8.1, and the location of the hirik is correct. It's still displaying incorrectly on Windows 7.

In Firefox and Chrome I get the raised hiriq; in Explorer and Safari I get it correctly in the lower position.
I'm running Windows 7. The same effect is evident even if I type the word with hiriq into the search or address bar.

That could be it. After all, I'm using Chrome on Win 7 and Explorer on Win 8.1.

I had an older version of FireFox (10.0) installed and it displayed just fine. I just upgraded to version 28, and the problem reappears. So, not an issue with the font, but an issue with the browsers. Curious that both Chrome and FireFox have the same problem, Explorer and Safari don't. They all must be using different libraries or something. I wonder how we would report this...I would not expect that the browser developers understand Hebrew, and I wonder if they would know how to troubleshoot it...

There are 108 issues with rendering Hebrew -- but few of them are current.

There are a couple of references to niqqud issues but none that I see in the current release. Here is one pointing out the brokenness of FF > 10.

Perhaps you could create a bug report and the rest of use could join in with screenshots of the issue. I can help with screen shot picture editing so that the real issue is clearly apparent to the programmer who doesn't know Hebrew.
