obsolete attached personal pronouns in Lev. 25:35

Post by Isaac Fried »

The socially far reaching directive is:
וכי ימוך אחיך ומטה ידו עמך והחזקת בו גר ותושב וחי עמך
"And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee"
אחיך = אחי-אכה AXIYKA = AXIY-AKAH, with the obsolete אכה AKAH instead of אתה ATAH, 'you'.
ידו = יד-הוא YAD-O = YAD-HU, 'his hand'.
עמך=עם-אך IMAK = IM-AK, with the obsolete אך AK instead of את AT, 'you'.
והחזקת = והחזק-אתה W-HE-XEZAK-TA = W-HE-XEZAK-ATAH, with אתה ATAH = you.

The plot thickens with the ערכך = ערך-אכה ERK-AKAH of Lev 27:2-5, which appears to stand for ERK-O = ERK-HU, or ERK-A = ERK-HIY.
