Arabic and cursive Hebrew writing

Post by Isaac Fried »

In a recent post I brought up the Arabic word رضح as corresponding to the Hebrew רצח RCX. Looking at the Arabic we notice that the writing is but stylized Hebrew turned on its side.
The first letter ر is clearly a Hebrew ר rounded by fluent writing, and turned clockwise by 90 degrees. To avoid lifting the pen and two pen strokes, the two lifted arms of the Hebrew letter צ are connected by an over-arc to produce the corresponding rounded Hebrew script letter ص turned on its side. The Arabic letter ح appears to be the Hebrew letter ח xet, turned counterclockwise by 90 degrees.
