The act רשע RA$A in the song of David

Post by Isaac Fried »

In 2Sam. 22:22 we read
כִּי שָׁמַרְתִּי דַּרְכֵי יְהוָה וְלֹא רָשַׁעְתִּי מֵאֱלֹהָי
NIV: "For I have kept the ways of the Lord; I am not guilty of turning from my God."
KJV: "for I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God."

Indeed, the act רשע RA$A is a variant of the biblical רצע RACA, 'cut, slice, split, score, slash', and the post biblical רתע RATA, 'recoil'.
