Psalm 78:30 in BHS

Post by CowboysDad »

What does the bracket (followed by text) signify at the end of the verse and throughout the psalm (see vs. 48,50,55)?

Daniel, in the absence of any better explanation, it appears that this use of a bracket is simply a printing technique to save paper (and hence cost). In the most cases, the material after the bracket belongs to the end of the following verse. But there are also instances where the words after the bracket belong with the preceding line (e.g. in Psalm 79).
