Gen. 13:8

Post by Mike Atnip »

So, what is the significance, if any, of having אֲנָשִׁ֥ים here? I see it is not really translated in any of the more common English translations, although the OG has ὅτι ἄνθρωποι ἀδελφοὶ ἡμεῖς ἐσμεν.
Would a sense of "because we are human brothers" be possible???

"for we men are brothers" works just fine here; idiomatic English wouldn't need the "men" bit, as "for we are brothers" is more than adequate, hence most English translations have something akin ("kinsmen" seems to be a popular choice).

Thanks, "we men are brothers" makes more sense.
