Member registration policy change

Post by Kirk Lowery »

Friends,

For your information:

Over the past couple of days, bhebrew has been bombarded by spammers. You haven´t seen any because of the rule that new members' first three posts are moderated. However, the volume has been increasing day by day, now approaching 100/day and doubling every day.

In an effort to reduce my workload, I have changed how new members register. New members´ registration now requires administrator approval before any posts can be submitted.

This change in policy does not affect any current member. However, you should be aware that, given the volume of spamming attempts, I may not always recognize legitimate registration applications. If anyone should happen to complain to you, refer them to me.

And I apologize in advance if a spammer gets through our defenses inadvertently, and appreciate your understanding. Just report the posting.

After a time, I will relax this restriction and see if continuing the restrictive registration policy is still needed. I´ll announce any changes here.
