Numbers 21:14

Postby Saboi » Fri Jul 20, 2018 9:57 am

Numbers 21:14
את־והב בסופה ואת־הנחלים ארנון
KJV - What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon,
NKJV - Waheb in Suphah The brooks of the Arnon,
ESV - Waheb in Suphah, and the valleys of the Arnon

τὴν Ζωοβ ἐφλόγισεν καὶ τοὺς χειμάρρους Αρνων
He Burned the Zoob and the winter-flowing Arnon

Nahum 1:3 - בסופה : ἐν συντελείᾳ
Psalm 83:15 - בסופת : ἐν καταιγίδι
Isaiah 21:1 - כסופות : καταιγὶς
Amos 1:4 - סופה : συντελείας

The root of סופ is פה "Mouth, Lips" (of a river or a person )
-ψοφέω "come to a bad end"
-Τυφώς "Whirlwind, Typhoeus, Typhon"
-סופה (cuwphah) "Storm"
-ὄφις "Serpent" (נחש)

Orontes River
The river was originally named Typhon, because it was said that Zeus had struck the dragon Typhon down from the sky with thunder, and the river had formed where Typhon's body had fallen

Deuteronomy 11:4
He made the water of the Red sea to overflow

ἐπικλύζω 'Overflow, flood'
>κλύζω 'Wash away, purge'
>κατακλύζω 'Cataclysm, deluge, inundate '

Overflow, dried up, split in two they are contradicting stories about Yam-Suph.

הציף - Honeycomb
-σκύφος "Sweet-vessel"
-זהב "Gold" compare with והב/Ζωοβ
* Is the Septuagint reading זהב in Numbers 21:14?

There is a river in the Levant called Χρυσορρόας "streaming with gold"
and the source is near Zabadani (Ζωοβ? ),

Another word for Gold is פז (Phaz) and said to be the root of River Phasis
where Jason finds the Golden Fleece in Colchis/Κολχίς (החלק)

Gen 2:11 - Pison: that composes(κυκλῶν) the whole land of Havilah, where there is Gold

Arnon (ἀρνών) - Wool *Golden fleece

Jason got his fleece from Lebanon?
