The Masoretic note yatir, יתיר א indicates a superfluous or extra letter (in this case א) in a body text word. The Masoretes could express the same situation with a qere note, ק.
A list of 36 currently-known yatir forms in the Leningrad Codex (LC) is available at <https://tanach.us/Changes/2024.10.19%20 ... forms.html>. Many other yatir forms may be present in the LC, however.
Modern practice is to display yatir text as qere/ketiv pair, with the superfluous letter retained in the ketiv letters and removed from the qere letters. A reader looking at such a pair in a modern text cannot see whether it came from a yatir or a qere form. WLC 4.20 provides a transcription note 'y' on qere words based on yatir markings; WLC 4.20 contains 29 such 'y' notes. WLC 4.20 lacks 'y' notes on 4 such forms; WLC 4.20 and UXLC 2.1 miss 3 yatir forms completely (see above list).
Please advise if you know of additional yatir forms in the LC. Please offer your opinion as to whether providing transcription notes for yatir forms would enhance the UXLC text.
