The previous Hebrew text, UXLC 2.4, has been updated with 50 text changes in the change file: 2026.04.01 - Changes.xml to produce UXLC 2.5. Thanks to the authors of these changes: Ben Denckla, Moshe Greenberg.

Evaluating the book of Job transcription

Ben Denckla has graciously provided a list of 162 contended words in the book of Job. These words are contended in the sense that the transcription of the word differs among these modern editions:

Da-at Miqra, Breuer et al, 2003.
Biblia Hebraica Leningradensia, Dotan, 2001.
Westminster Leningrad Codex, Groves Center, 2002-2016.
Biblia Hebraica Quinta, German Bible Society, 2025.

The UXLC book of Job has 8,398 words (XML tags w,k,q), Denckla's list contains only 1.9% of the words in Job.

The following results are relative to UXLC 2.4. This version has 51 corrections made since WLC 4.20. An asterisk, '*', appears in the title of the change item if the verse was previously corrected. Forty-five items on the Denckla list have previously appeared as Change items in UXLC 2.4.

The changes file, 2026.04.01 - Changes.xml, contains a date section, 2026.02.05, representing the 162 words on the Denckla list. Results given are only for this data section. These words have been examined and changes to the UXLC have been made where needed. This examination added 11 changes in vowels and 14 changes in accents. Twenty-two (22) transcription notes were added somewhat freely as the words are contended. Of the 162 words on the list, 128 words required no action (78%), 9 words had only transcription notes added (6%), 128 words agreed with either BHL or BHLA (79%).
