Unicode/XML Leningrad Codex: Text changes please!

Post by cvkimball »

The Unicode/XML Leningrad Codex (UXLC) at <https://tanach.us> is a transcription of the Leningrad Codex (LC). Although decades have been spent by multiple organizations, the transcription is still imperfect. The UXLC allows improvements to be made and attributed to their authors. If you're aware of a discrepancy between the UXLC and the LC please submit a text change; it's easy <https://tanach.us/Pages/SuggestChange.html>. Usually, you will receive a reply in 24 hours and the change published within 6 months.

A possible way to find changes is to examine a verse that you find particularly important or interesting. View the verse at the site and compare the corresponding LC folio via the Links: Sefaria Color image of Leningrad Codex feature (<https://tanach.us/Pages/LC%20images.html>). Hint: Place the UXLC text and the Sefaria image in separate windows on your screen. Viewing the Sefaria images of the LC may require some one-time adjustments to your browser. Please see

<https://tanach.us/Pages/LC%20images.html>

if you're not currently able to see them.

I haven't used your tanakh for many years, and I tried to do a word search. I somehow figured out how to use the hexadecimal thing to look up the word קל. I wanted to know if the word "voice" or "proclamation" קול is ever spelled that way by itself. Usually, I see it spelled without the vav in the middle only if a letter is added to the beginning or end of the word. It said that that word is used 37 times, but it doesn't list the verses. I know it could also be other words like "swift", but I still wanted to look. Can you look it up or tell me why I can't get the list of verses with the number of occurrences?
Thanks.

Unicode/XML Leningrad Codex: Supplements/Seach page repaired

Post by cvkimball »

Your g*******@hotmail.com address has twice refused my reply; though I received your e-mail 0f 09:40 EDT. I would not otherwise misuse this forum.

Thanks for your query about a problem with the UXLC/Supplements/Search function. As a result, I have corrected a bug which produces an empty table of results.

For correct operation clear your browser cookies and proceed as usual.

If clearing cookies is inconvenient, go the the "Show verses and counts" pull down, change the setting to "Show counts only", then change the setting back to "Show verses and counts". Then press "Search".

First of all, thanks for answering me. I don't know why my email refused your email. I forgot where I put this question, but I just looked now. I am going to go back and try again later on. I don't think it misuses this forum to discuss this here because your site helps people research the Hebrew Bible, which is what this forum is about. Thanks again. I wish you could tell me why my email won't accept your email.

I don't know why you can't send an email to me, but you could get an email from me. I wonder if it is because it says "hotmail" instead of "outlook." I have no idea really. Anyway, I was able to search for Hebrew words on your site, so that part worked out. Thanks.
