An important archaeological find in Jerusalem

Postby Isaac Fried » Wed Dec 02, 2015 9:15 am

Archaeologists deciphered a seal impression bearing the name of the 8th century BCE biblical King חזקיהו Hezekiah recently found during excavations next to the Old City of Jerusalem, the Hebrew University announced Wednesday.

Notice on it the image of an eagle, and the curious symbol on the right.

Those are good news. A bit surprised to see the ankh and the winged disk, but it's a great discovery anyway. I wish I could read the archaic aleph-bet.

I suspect that "ankh" is related to the Hebrew אנוֹכי ANOKIY, then to אני חי, 'I am alive'.

Blowing high quality smoke into the beehive will cause all bees to dance and sing all day
אך אך כמה נוֹח
מהריח הניחוֹח
מי את אנך זה הטוֹב יכוֹל לשכוֹח
