GELED, Job 16:15

Post by Isaac Fried »

We read there
NIV: "I have sewed sackcloth over my skin"
but with גִלְדִּי being possibly also "body".

Ex. 16:14 says
KJV: " And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground"
which the Aramaic, אונקלוס Onkelos, renders as
Here also, כִּגְלִידָא is, 'as solid, as frozen'.

Spoken Hebrew has appropriated גְּלִידָה to mean the new delicacy, 'ice cream'.

Some claim to discern in the Hebrew גלד GLD, 'solid', an echo of the IE: gold, clod (namely, frozen), clot, cloud, and include (in-close).

Ah, I meant to say cold, (namely, frozen).
